Three tips for a glowing complexion

summer skinWhat a beautiful summer we are having in Minnesota! If you are like us here at Midsota MedSpa, you like to be outside  enjoying the summer sun. Careful though — all that sun can take a toll on your skin. Here are three of our favorite summer-approved tips to ensure that your skin stays healthy and beautiful all season long.

  1. Keep your skin well-protected

Of course, you know the importance of sunscreen. While we cannot stress enough the importance of applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen every morning, there are other things that you can do to protect your skin as well. Keep the sun off of your face by wearing a wide-brimmed sunhat. More than just shading your face, a sun hat also protects easily forgotten areas like the top of the head, ears and neck. You also can protect your skin from the inside out by drinking lots of water to ensure that you are keeping yourself and your skin well hydrated.

  2. Don’t forget about your eyes

Sun protection is likely not the first thing that comes to mind when you are choosing your stylish summer shades. However, with the right sunglasses you can ward off Botox® for another year or two by protecting the delicate skin around the eyes. Wearing sunglasses keeps us from squinting in the sun’s bright light, thus preventing crow’s feet from developing. Look for sunglasses that offer UV protection to prevent sun damage.

Treatments like microneedling with PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) encourages new collagen production. Microneedling thickens and plumps the thin skin around the eyes. PRP is full of skin-healthy growth factors, which promotes cell growth, tissue repair and furthers collagen stores.

  3. Choose sun-safe treatments

While some cosmetic treatments require that you keep out of the sun and are thus best performed during the grayer months, others can be performed year-round. Microdermabrasion uses a specialized wand to gently buff away dull, damaged and dead skin cells — making it the perfect treatment to get rid of built-up sun damage. New and healthy skin cells will exude a refreshed and rejuvenated summer glow.

Don’t let the sun get the best of you this summer! If you want to consult with a skincare expert, contact Midsota MedSpa.
