Need for Early Intervention
17,656 Minnesota children ages 0-5 have a serious mental health need
Between 2016 and 2020, CentraCare saw an astonishing 390% increase in mental health referrals for children aged 0-5. This dramatic surge in demand is why CentraCare embarked on an expansion project for Clara’s House, dedicated to addressing the growing mental health needs of children aged 3-5.
There is substantial research showing the clear link between play and brain development, motor-skills and social capabilities. Indoor and outdoor play areas focus on five specific areas of skill development — sensory, motor, cognitive, strength and social/emotional, and be used during treatment and family therapy sessions.
