An endocrinologist is a specialist who examines the science of the body's ductless (endocrine) glands and their functions. These include the pituitary gland, pancreas, thyroid, adrenal glands, and reproductive glands.

Endocrinologists care for patients with:
- diabetes
- thyroid diseases
- metabolic disorders
- menopause
- hypertension
- cholesterol disorders
- infertility
- osteoporosis
- cancer of the thyroid gland
- lack of growth (short stature)
