Nurse Midwife Services
You have the option of choosing to use the services of a physician or a certified nurse midwife to deliver your baby. Certified nurse midwives are licensed health care practitioners who are qualified to administer drugs, perform medical procedures and provide other technological interventions. We were one of the first hospitals in Minnesota to offer this service. Midwife services include:
Pregnancy
- Prenatal care
- Labor support
- Delivery
- Postpartum care
- Breastfeeding counseling and assistance
- Preconception planning
- Childbirth education
Classes available in childbirth education and breastfeeding.
Gynecology
- Annual physical exam
- Breast exams
- Pap smears
- Period problems
- Premenstrual syndrome
- Menopause and hormone replacement
- Vaginal, bladder and sexually transmitted infections
Other classes related to women’s health are offered on a regular basis.
Family Planning, including, but not limited to:
- Depo-Provera shots
- Cervical caps
- Natural family planning
- Birth control pills
- Emergency contraception
- Intrauterine devices
- Diaphragms
