St. Cloud Hospital Birth Center Education

During your hospital stay, you and your support person will receive ongoing education for yourself and your baby.

Education Your Way

We respect that every family is unique. Education is tailored to your learning style, cultural preferences and family dynamics. You’ll receive information in a variety of ways, including hands on teaching, verbal conversations, written materials and bedside tablets. Interpreter services may be available in person or by video, and several educational materials are offered in translated formats. By hearing, seeing and practicing skills learned, you can build confidence at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Your Care Team

This education will come from your entire care team. Many of our nurses hold specialized certifications in obstetrics, fetal monitoring, lactation and emergency care, allowing them to provide thorough, knowledgeable guidance. We follow Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) staffing ratios, which allows our nurses more time at the bedside for personalized education and support.

Topics to Review

Please review these topics important to your stay and transition home:

Taking time to review this education will give you a strong foundation of knowledge for keeping you and your baby safe during and after delivery.

Support for Home

These helpful references will be available to revisit at home and can be printed upon request.

Before you leave, your care team will review key information and answer any remaining questions you have. The team also can connect you with additional resources, such as lactation services, public health referrals, Baby Café, social work, case management or specialty care, so support can continue even after you’re home.
