Should I See a Cardiac Dietitian?

Transform your health by working with a registered dietitian if you:

  • Have a family history of heart disease
  • Want to try diet and lifestyle changes before starting a medication
  • Want help to choose nutritious foods
  • Want a lifestyle-based approach to losing weight
  • Have a lipid panel that’s outside recommended levels (LDL above 100, HDL below 40, triglycerides above 150)

Make an Appointment

For your convenience, we offer in-person and video visits with quick appointment availabilty. To make an appointment or get more information, call 320-251-2700, ext. 52444. You need a referral for nutrition counseling services.

What to Expect: Your First Appointment

During your first 60-minute appointment, you’ll:

  • Review your diet and nutrition history
  • Discuss health conditions that dietary changes could improve
  • Address any questions you have

Cardiac Rehabilitation Workshops

Within our Pritikin Intensive Cardiac Rehab Program, you’ll meet one-on-one with a registered dietitian. You can then attend five nutrition workshops and 11 cooking demonstrations. Studies show your health is more likely to improve if you attend these events.

Nutrition Workshop

The nutrition workshop will cover topics like:

  • Fueling a healthy body
  • Reading nutrition labels
  • Navigating food menus
  • Targeting your nutrition priorities
  • Eating mindfully

Cooking Demonstration

The cooking demonstration topics include:

  • Appetizers and snacks
  • Desserts
  • Fast breakfasts and dinners
  • Low-salt recipes
  • Plant-based proteins
  • Salads
  • Simple sides
  • Soups
  • Weekend breakfast ideas

Payment

The cost may vary by insurance plan. Ask your insurance provider about coverage. Many insurance companies cover medical nutrition therapy.
