How Alcohol Septal Ablation Works
We’ll likely order an imaging test to look at your heart’s septum and decide if ablation is an option for you. If you choose to get treatment, it will take place at CentraCare Heart & Vascular Center in St. Cloud. A doctor will inject a small amount of alcohol into an artery that sends blood to the thick heart tissue. This reduces blood flow, causing the thick area to shrink. The injection is a nonsurgical way to improve blood flow.
Recovery & Results
Results aren’t immediate. It can take weeks to see improvement. We’ll monitor your heart pressure and the septum’s size to make sure treatment worked.
Sometimes, ablation changes the heart’s electrical paths. Tell your care team if you start to feel an unusual heart rhythm. We’ll help you get complete arrhythmia treatment.
