Current Stroke Clinical Trials
Stroke research includes a variety of study types aimed at reducing risk, improving treatment, enhancing recovery and the overall care of stroke patients. Research currently offered at CentraCare Neurosciences Stroke Center includes the following studies.
Sleep for Stroke Management and Recovery Trial (Sleep SMART)
The purpose of this study is to determine whether treatment of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) with positive airway pressure starting shortly after acute ischemic stroke reduces recurrent stroke, acute coronary syndrome, and all-cause mortality 6 months after the event, and improves stroke outcomes at 3 months in patients who experienced an ischemic stroke.

Statins In Intracerbral Hemorrhage (SATURN)
The SATURN trial aims to determine whether continuation vs. discontinuation of statin drugs after spontaneous lobar intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is the best strategy; and whether the decision to continue/discontinue statins should be influenced by an individual's Apolipoprotein-E (APOE) genotype.

Anticoagulation in ICH Survivors for Stroke Prevention and Recovery (ASPIRE)
Primary Aim: To determine if apixaban is superior to aspirin for prevention of the composite outcome of any stroke (hemorrhagic or ischemic) or death from any cause in patients with recent ICH and atrial fibrillation (AF).
