Published in Media Releases

St. Cloud, Minn. – Dante Beretta, MD, CentraCare Health – Melrose, and Todd McSorley, Coordinator, Environmental Services, St. Cloud Hospital, are this year’s recipients of the Deb McCarl Diversity Award. They were honored at the April 28 Diversity conference at CentraCare Health Plaza.

This award acknowledges outstanding accomplishments of physicians, staff and volunteers whose efforts foster greater appreciation, advancement and celebration of diversity and inclusiveness in the CentraCare Health culture and environment. Deb McCarl, MD, in whose honor the award was established, received the first award in 2014 in recognition of her work to foster diversity and inclusiveness within her practice.

Dr. Beretta received several nominations that stated he goes above and beyond for his patients. He learned Spanish to better serve and improve communications with many of his patients. He has been instrumental in ensuring patient education materials are available in Spanish and serves on a committee to improve the health of his Spanish-speaking patients. “He is a good listener, treats his patients with respect and understands the culture.”

McSorley was nominated by several co-workers for his efforts in hiring a well-qualified, diverse team of employees and for understanding and embracing people’s differences. “Todd is driven by commitment to diversity, equal opportunity and a high-quality workforce.”
