Coborn’s, Inc. and CentraCare Health announce plans to open grocery store retail clinics

Published in Media Releases Author: CentraCare

Coborn's, Inc. and CentraCare Health have formed a partnership to provide greater access to health care for people living in the St. Cloud area and across Central Minnesota. Beginning this fall, three new CentraCare Health clinics will open at three Coborn's, Inc. owned grocery stores. The goal of these clinics will be to provide the right care, at the right price, in the right place, ultimately creating an environment where guests have access to quality, convenient health care and nutritious food options in one place.

“This is about a local grocery company and local health care provider partnering to further serve the community they both call home,” said Chris Coborn, President, CEO and Chairman of the Board for Coborn’s, Inc. "We know our guests lead busy lives; we are excited to provide this service through our on-going partnership with CentraCare, a trusted organization that has been providing quality local health care to the area for years."

Two of the three retail clinics will be located at Coborn's in Foley and Cash Wise in Waite Park. Construction is underway with a scheduled opening of November 1 at Cash Wise. The clinic in Foley will open soon after. Clinics will operate seven days a week, from 7am to 7pm. At these clinics, guests can receive:

  • Treatments for minor illnesses and injuries
  • Treatments for common skin conditions
  • Physical exams
  • Vaccinations

Another retail clinic will be located at Coborn's Marketplace on Pine Cone Road in Sartell. This clinic will be a virtual clinic, allowing guests to speak with a health care provider through video conferencing.

“Health care is changing – and so are the needs of our community,” said Ken Holmen, MD, President and CEO of CentraCare Health. “And by partnering with those within our community, we can achieve our goal of improving the health of every patient every day by making access to care convenient for those we serve.”

The Pine Cone Road retail clinic is scheduled to open later this year.

"This entire initiative aligns with our vision to inspire healthy living and simplicity, one guest at a time," Coborn added. "Our stores already have pharmacies and the ability for guests to work with a dietitian; this is another investment we are happy to make for our guests."

The Coborn family and Coborn's, Inc. have been strong supporters of CentraCare's mission to improve the health of every patient, every day. In 2001, Coborn's, Inc. made a $3 million donation to CentraCare Health System to establish a customized cancer care center known as the Coborn Cancer Center. In 2016, the Coborn Family Foundation provided a $1 million gift for a cancer survivorship center, which is currently being built next to the Coborn Cancer Center. Dan Coborn, former Coborn's, Inc. CEO and President, provided a $500,000 estate gift to the CentraCare Health Foundation following his passing in March 2017.
