St. Cloud Hospital Named One of the Nation’s 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals™ by Fortune and PINC AI™

Published in Media Releases

A recent Fortune magazine article identified CentraCare – St. Cloud Hospital as one of the nation’s 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals by PINC AI™.

In an independent quality analysis, PINC AI™ evaluated more than 900 U.S. hospitals and singled out 50 that achieved superior efficiency, clinical outcomes and patient experience for cardiovascular health. Top 50 Cardiovascular Hospitals™ have significantly higher survival rates, fewer patients with complications, lower readmission rates and reduced costs.

If all cardiovascular providers in the U.S. performed at the level of this year’s winners, the result could save:

  • Nearly 7,600 additional lives
  • Around 6,700 patients from complications
  • More than $1 billion in costs

“The difference between this award and others is you have to demonstrate a five-year overall rate of improvement,” said Phil Martin, Executive Director of the CentraCare Heart & Vascular Center at St. Cloud Hospital. “Our program is committed to constant improvement, research, outcomes and quality. This constant evolution means that patients can expect our physicians to have the latest technology available to treat the most complicated heart problems.”

“Heart disease remains the leading cause of death for all Americans,” said Leigh Anderson, Premier’s President of Performance Services and the leader of PINC AI™. “Given the life and death nature of this condition, patients and their loved ones need credible information to help them determine where to go for the best possible care. This objective, data-driven study proves that St. Cloud Hospital excels across a range of core performance indicators.”

Award winners are categorized into peer groups. St. Cloud Hospital is categorized as a teaching hospital without a cardiovascular residency program. For the past 25 years, the Top Cardiovascular Hospitals™ study has looked at publicly available data to rank top-performing hospitals. St. Cloud Hospital has made the list 10 times.

CentraCare Heart & Vascular Center at St. Cloud Hospital is dedicated to the prevention, discovery and management of heart disease. It offers a full range of heart services, including a structural heart program, advanced cardiac imaging, heart failure management and heart research. In 2022, U.S. News & World Report ranked the program 30th in the nation for cardiology and heart surgery.
