CentraCare Hosting Events, Sharing Education for Stroke Awareness Month

Published in Media Releases

For May, CentraCare – St. Cloud Hospital is lit up in purple to highlight Stroke Awareness Month. In Minnesota, stroke is a leading cause of disability and impacts over 100,000 individuals across the state.

Annually, more than 12,000 Minnesotans are hospitalized for stroke care. CentraCare – St. Cloud Hospital provides care for over 1,000 patients who need evaluation, diagnosis and care for a potential stroke each year.

Remember BE FAST!

  • Balance loss
  • Eyesight changes
  • Face weakness
  • Arm weakness
  • Speech difficulty
  • Time is brain

When you or someone you love has a stroke, fast access to the best possible stroke care is critical to minimizing disability and preventing death.

CentraCare – St. Cloud Hospital is known for its exceptional, cutting-edge stroke care, and is one of the few hospitals to perform a revolutionary and life-saving procedure called a thrombectomy, which can greatly improve the outcome of patients suffering a severe stroke.

The Stroke Center is certified as a Comprehensive Stroke Center, meaning that St. Cloud Hospital provides the highest level of treatment and care available for stroke patients, including advanced neuro-interventional radiology, neurosurgery and neuro-critical care services.

To reduce your risk of stroke, regulate your numbers for blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes, and follow a healthy diet and exercise routine.

CentraCare will be hosting two community events during Stroke Awareness Month:
