CentraCare Offering Convenient Options for Influenza Vaccinations

Published in Media Releases

With the leaves falling and the sun setting earlier every day, we’re heading into colder months and we’re also heading into influenza season.

Influenza vaccines have arrived and we’re making it convenient to protect you and your family members. CentraCare is offering several dedicated flu clinics and drive-thru events for patients receiving the influenza vaccine along with two ways to schedule an appointment – by phone or online.

Contact your clinic or call 320-200-3200 to make an appointment. For those who prefer, influenza vaccinations are also available during in-person appointments. The flu vaccine is recommended for everyone six months of age and older. Appointments are required for all flu vaccinations.

This year CentraCare will offer Fluad, an influenza vaccine for patients 65 years of age and older. Fluad Quadrivalent vaccine includes an adjuvant designed to strengthen, broaden, and lengthen the duration of immune response. When seeking this vaccine, you don’t need to make a Fluad specific appointment.

CentraCare will also have a limited amount of FluMist Quadrivalent for our pediatric patients ages 2-18. FluMist, a vaccine that is sprayed into the nose to protect against influenza, will be given in-clinic at select locations. Patients interested in FluMist should contact their clinic or provider about availability.

Every season, the flu vaccine is updated to protect against the influenza viruses that are found to be the most common during the upcoming season. In addition, immune protection declines over time; the annual flu shot boosts your immunity each year. After receiving the influenza vaccine, it takes about two weeks for your body to develop immunity to protect against the influenza virus.

For CentraCare – Benson, please call 320-843-2030 to make an appointment.
