    Biography

    What I Do
As an anesthesiologist, my goal is to provide high-quality, evidence-based patient care. I am especially intent upon listening to patients’ concerns about their anesthesia on the day of surgery. I strive to provide to them compassionate and understandable explanations of the role of the anesthesia team with a focus on safety and pain relief. I work to alleviate anxiety and deliver an individually tailored anesthetic experience for each patient. My special clinical interests include cardiothoracic anesthesia, patient blood management and perioperative coagulation management.

    Why I Love My Work
love the opportunity to manage a wide range of patient conditions for a variety of procedures. Additionally, CentraCare has a reputation as a well-run, patient and clinician-centered organization. I have worked within a number of different practice models and settings and have found that this focus is not universal. I look forward to bringing my experience and skills to further CentraCare’s vision of “encouraging and inspiring health and well-being.”

    Getting to Know Me
I had a circuitous route to medicine. I was a history major and then got a master's degree in East Asian studies before venturing out to various jobs (some interesting, some not so much). After graduate school, I was searching for a career that presented intellectual challenge and offered an opportunity to alleviate suffering. Eventually, I decided to go to medical school and become an orthopedic surgeon… and ended up being an anesthesiologist. Anesthesiology rose to the top because of its perfect blend of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology and procedures.

Outside of work, I enjoy music and trying to play guitar, target shooting and yoga.
