    Biography

    What I Do
I was drawn to cardiology for its omnipresent role in health. I wanted to work in a setting which ensures all sorts of possibilities from the acute to chronic. No day or patient is the same. I am eager to spend my working life utilizing both heart and science for the benefit of patients. My special clinical interests are:

    • Cardiovascular risk reduction
    • Structural heart procedures, e.g.: Watchman device
    • Role of fasting and intermittent eating in generalized health and longevity

    Why I Love My Work
Medical professionals are unique in that we bear witness to the most intimate and important parts of life – both common and tragic. This is a large responsibility and a great privilege.

    Getting to Know Me
Raised in Central Minnesota, I wanted to come back to a community that celebrates its rural roots and growing urban possibilities. I respect the sense of community and work ethic an agricultural area supports.

In a former life, I was a professional events planner. One of my most memorable events was the College of Saint Benedict’s 100-year birthday party (yes, even a college deserves its own birthday extravaganza!). The festivities included more than 2,000 cupcakes and party hats to celebrate the historic institution and the community of women built by our local religious sisters.

In my spare time, I collect old music records, spend time vegetable gardening and finding Minnesota native plants, along with going on hikes with my dog. Additionally, I am quite fond of family stories, recipes and folklore. Our heritage is a part of our identity and something to be shared. Warning to patients: you may be subjected to a few Irish sayings from time to time!
