    Biography

    What I Do
My philosophy of care is to include families as much as the patients into my care, whether the patients I work with are pediatrics or geriatrics. My care is designed to be purposeful in actively improving my patients’ quality of life. It also is designed to improve participation in environments by developing speech, language, cognitive, swallowing, feeding or voice-related skills. I am a holistic clinician that seeks to collaborate effectively with fellow colleagues or various professionals at other organizations to provide effective assessment and treatment.

I have many special clinical interests in a variety of areas of speech – language pathology. One experience that I was particularly passionate about included being a clinical provider of SPEAK OUT! And LOUD CROWD! I provided voice therapies that are designed for older adults with Parkinson’s Disease. I also have found my niche in the pediatric world while providing skilled and purposeful play-based speech, language and/or hearing therapy with children.

    Why I Love My Work
I enjoy making connections with the patients that I serve and their families. When these relationships are made, the celebrations are so much sweeter when patients are meeting goals or when they can be discharged from therapy. I also love playing an “investigator” role when patients have challenging diagnoses and cofounding factors in addition to their communication, swallowing, voice or cognitive concerns.

    Getting to Know Me
In my free time, I love to spend time with my friends and family on the lake in the summertime. I also enjoy deer hunting in the fall, snowmobiling in the winter, going to concerts and sporting events. Going to new restaurants while on a motorcycle ride is something I enjoy a lot too. I also soak up as much time with my furry friends as I can (my two dogs – Gemma and Maddie)!
