    What I Do
In my role as a general surgeon, I believe health care is a team activity between patients and their caregivers. For this reason, I work hard to make sure patients understand the big picture and the risk/benefit ratio of their care options so that we can create a plan right for them. I also feel strongly about decreasing the fear and anxiety patients have when they have a medical issue. Being a patient can be scary, and I feel it is part of my job to help patients feel more comfortable and at ease.

    Why I Love My Work
I really like helping people and medicine gives me the opportunity to do this in a variety of ways. Surgery allows me to solve a problem in a hands-on manner while making someone’s life better. I enjoy working in a team environment with other surgeons and staff. My special clinical interest is breast surgery.

    Getting to Know Me
Outside of work, I enjoy knitting, sewing and reading. I also am interested in self-help and personal growth. I worked as a chemist for five years before going to medical school. I almost became a high school chemistry teacher because I love explaining things and teaching people.
