    What I Do
As a genetic counselor, I provide my patients with the information necessary to make the most informed, personalized choices for them and their families as they go on in their genetic health journey. This means different things for different people and I strive to understand each patient’s believes and values related to their health and make sure this aligns with the care received and decisions being made. I support my patients in their decisions and set them up for success beyond our meetings with resources and a plan. My clinical interests include preconception testing, high-risk pregnancies, and cancer.

    Why I Love My Work
I wanted to use my love of science and teaching in a meaningful way but didn’t know exactly how I was going to do it. Having a family member who is a genetic counselor and hearing the way she talked about her job was inspiring.

My primary area of focus is in high-risk pregnancy and preconception counseling. I appreciate the opportunity to help parents identify their goals and values before and during pregnancy and to figure out ways that they can honor those things. With inherited/hereditary conditions, patients don’t always feel like they have choices and feel that things are out of their control. I enjoy helping people navigate their choices and develop a plan that works for them.

The community of the providers that I work with here at CentraCare is unmatched. Every person that I work with is incredibly kind and knowledgeable and genuinely cares about their patients. Here, I also have the opportunity to provide genetic counseling to a historically underserved population.

    Getting To Know Me
Outside of work, I enjoy board games, playing with my two dogs, hiking, watching the Minnesota Gophers, Twins and Wild, and checking out local breweries and restaurants.
