    What I Do
My philosophy of care is to treat each patient and their family like I would treat my own family. I want my patients to be fully informed and feel valued in medical and surgical decisions and recommendations. It is my duty to make sure each patient receives outstanding care. Medicine provides a dynamic, ever-changing career, which requires dedication to my own lifelong education, as well as a platform to educate future medical providers, patients and their families.

My special clinical interests include acute care surgery, trauma surgery, hernia repair, colon surgery, gallbladder surgery, robotic and laparoscopic surgery.

    Why I Love My Work
As a surgeon, I enjoy helping people feel better and having the opportunity to see them healed and living a happy, fulfilled life. Surgery gives me the honor of having the ability to operate on patients and almost instantly make them feel better or, in some cases, even save their lives.

I chose CentraCare because of the people working in the system and on all the different teams. Health care is meant to be a team sport, and I chose to join a team that is committed to helping each other and is aligned by a common goal to provide the best surgical care possible.

    Getting to Know Me
As a previous woodworker and carpenter, I enjoyed embracing challenge, and I found that surgery allowed me to do so as well. I was able to continue my technical work with my hands while having the opportunity to take care of people and have a career dedicated to lifelong learning.

I have a wide variety of interests and hobbies but, first and foremost, I enjoy spending time with my family and our energetic little Australian shepherd, as well as our many great friends. I play several instruments including piano, saxophone and guitar, and I like going to live music concerts when possible. I also enjoy trail running, swimming, fishing, watching NFL football, reading and doing woodwork/carpentry.
