Cindy Firkins Smith, MD

Medical Education Vice President

After completing her residency at the University of Minnesota, Dr. Cindy Firkins Smith drove straight to Willmar where she has practiced dermatology for 28 years. She has served in a myriad of roles including Clinical Professor at the University of Minnesota and president of the Minnesota Medical Association, acting as a voice for rural medicine and advocating for collaboration across specialties, systems and geographies. In 2016, Smith became President/CEO of ACMC Health, and recently led the independent, physician-owned multispecialty system’s integration with Rice Memorial Hospital and CentraCare. Together, they formed Carris Health, a novel, rural health care organization, committed to offering patients the best care close to home.

Smith earned a bachelor’s degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato and her MD degree from the University of Minnesota.
