Holly Ball Broke Records to Support Hospice

St. Cloud, Minn. – The 39th annual Holly Ball held on Dec. 14 raised more than $550,000 for the St. Cloud Hospital Hospice Fund through the CentraCare Health Foundation. More than 1,800 guests enjoyed the gala event.

“Each year, we are awed by the community support for Holly Ball,” said Mark Larkin, Vice President of Development for CentraCare Health. “Without our generous benefactors and all of the volunteers who make this event possible, Hospice would not be able to offer emotional, spiritual and physical support to Hospice patients and their families.”

The total amount raised for Hospice since Holly Ball began is almost $5 million.

Hospice provides comfort and dignity and respects human life from beginning to end for patients who have a six month or less life expectancy and are accepting of comfort care. It helps support people in the final stages of their lives and offers an environment of hope that symptoms can be managed, fears diminished, questions answered and loneliness eased. Hospice enables patients and their families to approach death and dying with dignity and respect. St. Cloud Hospice cared for more than 400 patients and their families last year.

Thank you to Marco, the Holly Ball 2013 presenting sponsor, and all of the sponsors, benefactors, volunteers and attendees. A special thank you to Chair Dena Walz, Co-chairs Sarah Liveringhouse and Nina Steil, committee members and warehouse crew for sharing their time and talent to make Holly Ball 2013 sparkle.

In recognition for supporting the special Music Therapy fundraiser at Holly Ball, thank you to Marco for the $10,000 match and to US Bank and Denny Niess for the $5,000 match. With their help, $51,000 was raised at Holly Ball to support providing music therapy for Hospice patients.

Mark your calendars for the 40th annual Holly Ball scheduled for Dec. 6, 2014, at River’s Edge Convention Center in St. Cloud.
