24-hour Onsite Licensed Nurses
We have expanded Home Care services to provide 24-hour onsite licensed nurses. Now tenants with medical concerns, such as diabetes, can receive additional care at any time. Tenants with diabetes can receive services such as blood glucose monitoring, insulin administration and carbohydrate counting.
Specialized Diabetic Management Service
About one in 14 adults has diabetes and the chances of developing the disease increase with age. At St. Benedict’s Senior Community – Monticello, nurses are onsite 24 hours a day, seven days a week to help residents regulate their health. These health care professionals specialize in caring for tenants with diabetes.
Registered nurses provide education about the self-management of diabetes, which is a key component in improving the health and quality of life for diabetics. One of the main goals is to control the blood sugar level by keeping it as close to normal as possible.
Nurses assist tenants with:
- Carbohydrate counting
- Blood sugar testing (to maintain the proper levels)
- Insulin administration (including sliding scale, also is provided by the staff)
Diabetes-related complications managed by Home Care nurses include:
- Circulation problems, especially in the feet
- Heart disease
- Wound care
We are affiliated with St. Benedict's Senior Community - St. Cloud, a recognized leader in health care and housing for older adults in Central Minnesota. We have earned our excellent reputation by providing superior service and housing options to seniors and their families during the past 35 years.
