About the Program

CentraCare – St. Cloud Hospital Child & Adolescent Behavioral Health at Clara’s House is a partial hospitalization program for children and adolescents ages 5-18 who may have emotional, behavioral or psychiatric difficulties. The program provides intensive, collaborative, therapeutic services with a goal of stabilization and improving emotional well-being for nearly 500 children annually.

Between 2016 and 2020, CentraCare saw an astonishing 390% increase in mental health referrals for children aged 0-5. This dramatic surge in demand is why CentraCare is embarking on an expansion project for Clara’s House, dedicated to addressing the growing mental health needs of children aged 2-5.

Make an impact: New Program and Play Area

Gifts will help the program expand to address the mental health needs of children ages 2-5, as there is an opportunity and a need to intervene even at a younger age. Along with this new program, an indoor and outdoor play area will be built for this early childhood population, since there is substantial research showing the clear link between play and brain development, motor-skills and social capabilities. This play area will focus on five specific areas of skill development — sensory, motor, cognitive, strength and social/emotional, and be used during treatment and family therapy sessions.

All gifts will help support this Child & Adolescent Behavioral Health expansion project in our community.
