Clara’s House is a partial hospitalization program for children and adolescents ages 5-18 who may have emotional, behavioral, or psychiatric difficulties. Clara’s House provides intensive, collaborative, therapeutic services with a goal of stabilization and improving emotional well-being.

Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00-3:00 (School Year) 8:00-2:00 (Summer)

Length of Stay: Average 4-6 weeks

Three Units: Child (5-10), Early Adolescent (10-14), Adolescent (14-18)

CentraCare - St. Cloud Hospital Clara's House is named after the benefactor, Mae Ellingson-Skalicky’s mother “Clara,” who spent her life loving and caring for children. Read Clara's story

Psychiatric Services: Nursing and psychiatry providers are available to children and adolescents to manage medications and ongoing care.

Education: Clara’s House collaborates with St. Cloud school district which provides students with two hours of education daily during the school year, while attending programming.

Recreational Therapy: Recreational Therapists provide medication and mindfulness activities as well as teaching cooperation and perseverance, and goal setting. Keeping your mind and body connected is an essential part of treatment.

Art Therapy: Therapeutic art helps children and adolescents explore and express emotions.

Individual and Family Therapy: Licensed therapists provide short-term intensive treatment and help create a supportive aftercare plan for patients and their families.

Skills and Psychotherapy Groups: A group setting allows patients to support each other while developing healthier ways of coping, problem solving, and crisis management skills.
