Less Invasive Options for a Faster Recovery

Your general surgeon will make the smallest possible incisions or use no incisions at all. Minimally invasive options are available thanks to technology such as:

  • Laparoscope – Utilizes a thin tube with a light and camera that shows the inside of your body on a large monitor in the operating room.
  • Da Vinci robot – Moves more precisely and steadily than human hands but is controlled by a surgeon. In St. Cloud, Monticello and Willmar, da Vinci robots are often used for procedures related to general surgery, urology and gynecology.
  • Mako robot – Uses 3D modeling and robotic arms for joint replacement surgery in Monticello.

Laparoscopy and robotic surgery impact less of your body than open procedures, which use a long incision. That means less pain after surgery and a quicker return to your routine.
